Backbenchers Academy (“we”, “us”) decides why and how your personal data is used, which makes us the Data Fiduciary under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the DPDP Act). This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, how long we keep it and the rights you have.
What we collect
- Details you give us: your name, phone number, email address, the course you are interested in and, when you enquire or enrol, your education and career details.
- Your cookie choice: a random consent ID, the categories you allowed, the notice version and the time. It does not include your name or IP address.
- Usage data, only if you allow it: pages visited and how the site is used, through analytics or advertising tools (see Cookies below).
Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and give you free counselling. The details you submit in a form are used for this purpose.
- To deliver the course, interview preparation and placement support once you enrol.
- To share your profile with employers, only with your consent.
- To keep a record of your cookie choice, as proof of consent.
- To send updates about courses and events, only if you agree. You can opt out at any time.
We do not sell your personal data.
Cookies
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. When you first visit, we ask which kinds you allow. Necessary cookies are always on because the site needs them. Analytics and marketing cookies stay off unless you turn them on, and any analytics or advertising tool added to this site is held back until you do.
CategoryNecessary
- What it does
- Remembers your cookie choice and keeps forms and the site working securely.
- Examples

- 180 days
CategoryAnalytics (optional)
- What it does
- Counts visits and shows which pages help people, so we can improve the site.

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time from Cookie settings, also linked at the bottom of every page. Withdrawing is as easy as giving consent: optional cookies we set are deleted and the tools stop running. The notice is available in English, Hindi and Marathi.
Who we share it with
- Employers, when you agree to be put forward for a role.
- Service providers who help us run the site and our services (for example hosting, email and, if you allow them, analytics). They may use the data only on our instructions.
- Authorities, when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry details for as long as we need them to help you, and for up to 3 years after our last contact, unless you ask us to delete them sooner or the law requires us to keep them longer. Records of consent are kept for as long as they are needed to show that consent was given. When data is no longer needed, we delete it.
Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you can:
- Get a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we use it.
- Ask us to correct, complete, update or erase your personal data.
- Withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it.
- Nominate another person to exercise your rights if you die or become unable to.
- Have your grievance addressed by us.
To use any of these rights, email support@backbenchersacademy.in or contact us. We may ask you to confirm your identity before acting on a request.
Grievances and complaints

We will acknowledge your message and respond within the time allowed under the DPDP Rules, 2025. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Children
Our courses are meant for graduates and working adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18 without verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian.
Security
We use reasonable security safeguards to protect your personal data, including encrypted connections, restricted access and regular updates. If a personal data breach affects you, we will inform you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy in a way that affects your choices, we update the date above and ask for your cookie choice again.
